The Tao, Verse Two

I've realized that through my reading, a deep peace settles in. The sound advice from the Tao verse two (to me) is to be OK with who you simply are. Don't live in the "shoulds." Stop yourself from the feelings of having to explain your actions or inactions. Obviously, this doesn't apply to wacked-out or sinful actions that need to be repented for (christian eyes here), but rather encourages a relaxed sense of being OK instead of second guessing and sizing yourself up against others.

Christian truths that come to mind include: I am a work in progress. I am not perfect and can rest in the fact that God will complete the good work that He started in me (Phil 1:6). For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, so that we would walk in them (Eph 2:10). He has done it. I can rest & walk in what He has already ordained. I also remember when Jesus said to Peter (paraphrase of John 21:21-23), "Don't worry about John. What's it to you how his life turns out? Look at me." In other words, my life in God will look different as I embrace the unique calling He has given me. Where is the room for comparison?

Intro

My friend, Jeff, encouraged me to read the book , "Change Your Thoughts, Change Your Life: Living the Wisdom of the Tao." My goal: Find the connection between the Tao and Christianity, my first love. I will read one verse every day for 81 days, ponder, reflect, and search scripture to see how the two might mesh. I'm looking forward to the journey.
